This international match is the very last appearance of the season for the internationals of Denmark and Italy. They missed out on this summer’s World Cup. Yet there were still practice matches on the program.
In Liège, Denmark took on DR Congo, which qualified for the final tournament via the intercontinental play-offs. The mediocre match ended 0-0 without too many chances. Denmark ends the season against Ukraine. Congo will play against Portugal, Colombia and Uzbekistan at the World Cup.
Italy did manage to win. Under the leadership of interim national coach Silvio Baldini, a C-selection from Italy won 0-1 against Luxembourg thanks to a goal by Inter talent Francesco Esposito. Italy also plays against Greece on Sunday.
This international match was a boost for Ajax player Oscar Gloukh. On behalf of Israel, he scored the only goal of the match when visiting Albania in the 73rd minute (0-1). Both countries are not going to the World Cup.
