Double Olympic champion Océane Michelon uses the break from biathlon for a trip to tennis.

Michelon visited the French Open in Paris for the first time in her life on Wednesday. “It’s something very special! It’s magical, there’s an incredible atmosphere,” the 24-year-old enthused on “France TV”.

She has “enormous respect for this sport. The pressure is enormous and you have to maintain it over a longer period of time – that’s impressive,” said the French biathlete.

Michelon saw, among other things, the quarter-final match between Aryna Sabalenka and Diana Schnaider on the Court Philippe-Chatrier on Wednesday afternoon, in which the world number one gave up a victory that had already been believed to be certain.

Michelon is not the first well-known face from biathlon to stop by the French Open. At the start of the tournament, Dorothea Wierer kept her fingers crossed for her Italian compatriot Jannik Sinner in the box.

Michelon wins two gold medals in Antholz

Wierer ended her biathlon career at the Winter Olympics in February. Michelon celebrated her greatest successes in her young career to date. The French ski hunter won the gold medal in the mass start and relay. Silver also came out in the sprint. “The future belongs to her,” predicted biathlon legend Martin Fourcade.

Michelon finished eighth in the overall biathlon World Cup last season.

The double Olympic champion will intensify her training again in the coming weeks. The 2026/27 World Cup winter begins on November 24th in Kontiolahti, Finland. Michelon will certainly be one of the favorites again and may even fight to win the Big Crystal Ball.
