In two weeks’ time, Ferry Doedens, who has fallen aground, will be 36 years old. His former manager drives to the Netherlands especially to ring the doorbell. He hopes that the ex-soapie will then open the door…
It is one of the saddest stories in Dutch showbiz at the moment. Ferry Doedens, once one of the stars of Goede Tijden Slechte Tijden, is locked in a spiral of addiction and isolation, and no one around him seems to be able to reach him anymore. Last month he appeared in court, but that turned out not to be the case wake up call.
Tearful Ferry
His former manager Mathijs Vervoorn, who has known Ferry for years, is still trying to make contact. Without success, he explains RTL Boulevard. “I’m still trying to contact Ferry, but he has resigned himself to it and closed himself off from everything.”
And if he does manage to make contact? Then it becomes clear that Ferry considers his life a complete failure. “If I start talking about Good Times, tears well up in his eyes. If you start talking about OnlyFans, you have to wait for content. That’s the big difference.”
Track 6
No one is able to help Ferry, according to reporter Aran Bade. “We received messages that he was offered help by Spoor6. That is a mental health institution for addicts. Christian Looman, Ferry’s ex-manager, also emphatically said: ‘Go and do that.’ Three weeks ago he was still in front of our camera.”
“And then we all thought: this is a wake-up call, he is going to do it now. The latest news is that he has not responded to that either and that nothing has actually changed in the situation, which is so helpless. We spoke a little longer today with Mathijs, also a friend of Ferry, and he is very sorry.”
Crypto addiction
What does Mathijs say then? “He says: ‘I can’t call him, I can’t reach him. He’s behind that crypto for days and nights.’”
RTL Boulevard host Luuk Ikink: “We also tried to call him, but he doesn’t answer.”
In the meantime, the money also disappears. Aran: “His fee for the Prime Video documentary was quite a significant amount. People around him say that it has been transferred and that the accountant is no longer involved with Ferry. That has probably also gone to the crypto. 50K lost, right? Who knows, it’s all gone now, right?”
No streamers
In two weeks Ferry will be 36 years old. “Ferry’s birthday is in two weeks and there are hardly any streamers or balloons being hung,” says Aran.
“We spoke to Mathijs and he said: ‘I feel so sorry for him, I’m coming to the Netherlands and ringing the doorbell and then I hope he opens it, because we want to help him.’”
