Emiel Hoogland will switch from Hurry-Up to HSG Nordhorn-Lingen next summer. The 21-year-old mid-level coach from Zwartemeer went through the entire Hurry-Up youth academy and has grown into one of the main force’s driving forces since 2024.

“For me it is a big step, but the right next step,” says Hoogland, who already knows the club well. Since Mark Bult became coach of the Nordhorners, Hoogland has often trained with the team and also followed home games in Nordhorn and Lingen live.

That made the choice for Hoogland a lot easier.

“My strength is that I see some situations earlier than others and can then react quickly,” says Hoogland about his game. These qualities are also the reason that Nordhorn-Lingen has a lot of confidence in the Dutchman. The German club sees the middle builder as a player for the future, who brings a lot of dynamism, speed and insight into the game.

Hoogland will continue to live in Zwartemeer for the time being and travels back and forth to Germany for training and competitions. In order to quickly adapt to his new environment, he is currently working on his German language skills.

Coach Björn Zintel is enthusiastic about the arrival of the Dutchman. “Emiel has already developed extremely well at just 21 years of age. He has already been given a lot of responsibility at his club, is moving forward courageously and has proven his class, especially in the decisive play-offs and in the cup.”

“He gives the game a lot of structure, scores important goals, his one-on-one actions are strong and he is surprisingly broad and mature in his mind for his age,” he continues. “Emiel is certainly a very talented player with whom we will have a lot of fun.”
