The French Open is not just about prestige and world ranking points. A successful run in Paris is also financially worthwhile. There are millions in bonuses.
The French Open is the second Grand Slam tournament of the tennis year. Right in the middle: Alexander Zverev. The best German tennis player is in the quarter-finals of the tournament and will meet the Spaniard Rafael Jódar on Tuesday afternoon (on t-online in the live ticker).
For Zverev, it’s not just about fame and points for the world rankings. The prize money at Roland Garros is also enormous. In the 125th edition of the tournament, more money is at stake than ever before. A total of 61.7 million euros will be distributed at the tournament. 2.8 million euros for winning the tournament
The winner in the singles will each receive 2.8 million euros at the French Open 2026. The losing finalists still receive 1.4 million euros.
If Zverev wins his duel against Jódar, he will receive 750,000 euros for reaching the semi-finals. He is certain of the 470,000 euros he will receive for the quarter-finals.
Even leaving early is financially worthwhile
But all the athletes who have already been eliminated can also be happy: an early exit from the tournament brings in considerable prize money in Paris. For reaching the third round, the professionals receive 187,000 euros, in round two it is 130,000 euros.
Even those who are eliminated right at the start will not leave empty-handed. For participation in the main field, 87,000 euros will be paid out.
