In November three years ago a train collided with a truck at the level crossing in Koolskamp (Ardooie). The driver (56) from Brussels ignored the red light and ended up with his truck under an oncoming train.
He was critical and was in a coma for months. To this day he is still recovering. A dozen passengers and the train’s driver were slightly injured.
Verdict
It took a while, but on Tuesday morning the man finally heard his verdict in court. He received a suspended prison sentence of 6 months and is also banned from driving for a year and a half.
