Institutional discussion in Brussels on mobility, safety and regulatory innovation promoted by the FCI. There will be Ivan Gotti, king of two Giro d’Italia, and the Paralympic champion Claudia Cretti

On the occasion of International Bicycle Day, Wednesday 3 June, the Cycling Federation promoted the institutional event entitled “The Bicycle at the center of mobility, safety and regulatory innovation” at the European Parliament. The initiative represents an important moment of discussion between European institutions, political representatives, the sporting world and sector experts on the prospects of cycling mobility in Europe, with particular attention to the issues of road safety, environmental sustainability and regulatory innovation. Among the participants Ivan Gotti, king of the 1997 and 1999 Giro d’Italia, and the Paralympic champion Claudia Cretti. During the debate, the technical-regulatory proposals developed by the FCI and already submitted to the group leaders of the Chamber of Deputies and Senate of the Italian Republic will be officially presented. The proposed measures aim at an organic update of the legislative framework on cycling mobility and road safety. The choice of Brussels and the European Parliament as the venue for the event confirms the FCI’s desire to promote direct dialogue with community institutions and contribute to the construction of a shared European strategy for increasingly safe, inclusive and sustainable mobility. The appointment on 3 June is therefore proposed as a high-profile political and institutional opportunity to strengthen European cooperation on the topic of cycling mobility and enhance the role of the bicycle as a central tool for the ecological transition and the quality of urban life.
