A tourist from Paraguay went viral last weekend after she took a dip in the world-famous Trevi Fountain in Rome. That is strictly prohibited.
LOOK. Tourist cools off in the Trevi Fountain:
The footage shows the woman diving into the water, in front of hundreds of tourists who watch with envy. She starts with a bit of breaststroke and then floats on her back as if nothing happened.
An angry guard in a blue uniform calls her back from the water after a few minutes. Her husband tries to mediate, but without success. Ultimately, she was fined 500 euros and banned from visiting the fountain for life.
Strictly prohibited
It is not the first time that someone has dived into the world-famous fountain. Just two weeks ago, a 30-year-old man from New Zealand was also fined and banned for life for his swim in the Trevi Fountain.
It is strictly forbidden to touch the fountain or swim in it. The Trevi Fountain is guarded around the clock.
