There should already be an agreement between Wimmer and the Kraichgauers, and the medical check is planned for Wednesday. The offensive player will then sign a contract until 2031 before heading to the World Cup quarters in San Francisco with the ÖFB team the next day. While “Kicker” and “Sky” put the transfer fee at around 10 million euros, according to “AZ/WAZ“-Info 12.5 million euros.
Eintracht Frankfurt and Brighton & Hove Albion were also involved in the courtship for Wimmer until the very end. “Sky” at least gives the Seagulls the opportunity to intervene with the Hoffenheim team with a last-minute offer. However, TSG is attracted by sponsor Christian Ilzer, who made him a professional at Austria Vienna in December 2019 at the age of 18 years and six months. In 19 games under him, Wimmer contributed two goals and two assists.

Seven years later, he was one of Austria’s World Cup participants, although he had to accept relegation for the first time in the fourth season with VfL Wolfsburg. Due to injury, Wimmer was unable to help in the relegation. The 30-time national player scored seven goals in the last Bundesliga season. However, Wimmer was set back several times by injuries and only played three of the 25 missions over the full 90 minutes. His market value fell from 15 million to 12 million euros in the latest Bundesliga update.
TSG Hoffenheim lures Wimmer with Europa League
While Hoffenheim tempts with the Europa League and Brighton can still offer the Conference League, Wimmer would have had to forego international business in Frankfurt. However, he also had an Austrian coach there, returnee Adi Hütter, with whom he is said to maintain a good relationship. Now Wimmer’s future should be clarified shortly before the World Cup so that he can play a good role in the tournament without any worries.
