From vocal jazz to modern jazz to funk, fusion, Latin soul and blues – the Zig Zag Jazz Festival is committed to presenting the entire stylistic range of jazz. The music festival is organized in the Gasometer on the EUREF campus in Berlin-Schöneberg by Ella Radio and the three-time named best jazz club in Germany Zig Zag Jazz Club.
From July 20th to 30th, musicians as diverse as Till Brönner, Al Di Meola, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Dhafer Youssef, the Victor Wooten Brothers, Eliane Elias, The Bad Plus, Stacey Kent and Fusion Experience feat. Richard Bona & Dave Weckl and many other acts from Europe, the USA, Africa, Latin America and the Middle East. The evenings will be moderated by Berlin jazz pianist Uri Gincel.
Prince special at the Zig Zag Jazz Festival
One of the highlights is the Prince special with Ida Nielsen presented by ROLLING STONE. The Danish bassist was an early companion of Prince and played in his band New Power Generation for six years. According to the organizers, classics such as “Purple Rain” and “Kiss” will be heard. A very special tribute gig!
“Together with the Zig Zag Jazz Club, we want to create a new platform for jazz on the EUREF campus – with appeal far beyond Berlin and Germany,” says Ella Radio managing director Oliver Dunk. “Our goal is to establish the festival at this location in Berlin’s cultural landscape in the long term.”
