Marc-Marie Huijbregts thought he had a nice podcast story. Raymond Mens thought differently. “Yes, ha-ha-ha, laugh, laugh, laugh, fun, fun, fun, but think about it!”

You get a dog for life: it is an unwritten rule. Anyone who brings an animal into their home takes responsibility for a living being that is completely dependent on its new owner. That awareness is lacking in comedian Marc-Marie Huijbregts, who cheerfully tells in his podcast how he bought a dog, but returned it after one day.

Get rid of the dog

Well, he had someone else return the animal. Why? Because the animal looked at him all day. “He was indeed with me for one day. Yes, I had bought a dog, that is also true, but he was with me for one day and he just looked at me all day. He was looking at me all day long, like: what are we going to do?”, says Marc-Marie.

“Yes, go do something for yourself and we’ll be in touch again straight away! I just want to do something myself, but he kept looking every time. I thought: you know what? He’ll be back! Then he’s been away from his mother for one day and he’s just been on holiday, a little trip outside and then he’s not used to anyone and all that yet.”

Dog friend

Raymond is a big dog lover and finds this disgusting. “Yes, ha-ha-ha, laugh, laugh, laugh, fun, fun, fun, but think before you buy a dog and also think about what kind of dog it is,” he shouts. The Orange Sunday. “He’s talking about a dog that looks at him all day long.”

He continues: “I also have a dog that hops behind me all day long, because he is a very affectionate dog. You know that with that breed. Yes, you have to think about it carefully in advance.”

Utensil

Marc-Marie receives a red card from Raymond. “You know you’re going to get a very affectionate dog and then you’re not going to complain that he looks at you all day and follows me all day long. And then bring that dog back after a day? Ridiculous.”

“You have to learn that a dog is not a commodity that you buy one day and return the next day. You shouldn’t return a dog anyway. You really shouldn’t do that.”
