Gordon is still training hard for his Men’s Health cover, but is struggling mentally. The media eagerly picked it up. Job Knoester only has one question: why?
It is a pattern that repeats itself regularly: Gordon posts something on Instagram, the media picks it up, and a number of critics talk about it again. This time the reason is Gordon’s preparation for a cover shoot for Men’s Health, a process that he says has put a lot of mental strain on him.
Mentally tough
A move, the sale of his catering business, a difficult diet: Gordon shares it all openly with his followers. “The last two months before the cover shoot. What a busy time, but they weren’t such good weeks for me. Especially mentally, with the food and stuff, but okay, I think I’m okay again now. It seems to be normal,” he says on Insta.
So far nothing special for someone who has lived his life in the public eye for decades, but the fact that the mainstream media then picks up such a story as if there is big news to report is something Job Knoester can say. The Orange Sunday expect little understanding.
Patient
Job is annoyed to death. “Yes, then there will be another video like that. He was confused again because he participates in Men’s Health and then it is a news item. If he farts, then it is news.”
Colleague Thomas van Groningen: “Gordon is getting fit and he is just having a really hard time.”
After Gordon’s video, Thomas imitates him, panting: “But why does he have to talk like that? It’s very hard.”
Job: “It’s a patient. It’s just a patient.”
“Why Gordon?”
Raymond Mens comes to the rescue for Goor. “He posts this on his social media, there are people who follow him and they want to see this, so yeah, it’s not that crazy.”
Thomas: “I always have a soft spot for Gordon.”
Job: “I like him too, but sometimes I don’t and these are the moments when I think: why is there a Gordon?”
Thomas: “Yes, then he will ask: why is there a Job Knoester!”
“Don’t pick it up!”
Job understands that question. “Yes, that’s fine with me too, yes, haha. But yes, everyone can watch it on Instagram, but I don’t understand why the media would still pick it up and put it in the newspaper.”
Raymond concludes: “Yes, I understand what you are saying, because I read in the newspaper: ‘Gordon is going through a difficult period’, and then you think: is someone dead? Well, then you don’t read it.”
