According to media reports, FC Bayern is looking into signing Josko Gvardiol from Manchester City. The person allegedly being courted comments on the transfer speculation – and opens the door at least a little for a possible transfer.
Gvardiol commented on the rumors about a possible departure from Manchester City on the sidelines of his Croatian national team’s preparation for the World Cup in the USA, Mexico and Canada.
“We’ve all seen the different rumors coming from all directions,” the defense star is quoted as saying on X by “The Croatian”. At the same time, Gvardiol emphasized: “I’m happy at the club, I have everything I need. Before the injury I played every game, almost the full playing time.”
Gvardiol is actually one of Man City’s regular players, but he was missing between January and the beginning of May due to a broken tibia. As a result, the defender only played 18 Premier League games last season.
FC Bayern are reportedly in contact with Josko Gvardiol
The English portal “TEAMtalk”, among others, reported that FC Bayern made initial contact with Gvardiol and inquired about his willingness to change. A little later, TV expert and record national player Lothar Matthäus also surprised everyone by saying on “Sky” that he had heard that the people of Munich had “already had a feeling” about the 24-year-old.
“Bild” recently said that Gvardiol was “really keen” to join FC Bayern.
The central defender, who moved from RB Leipzig to Man City in 2023 for 90 million euros, has now opened the door for a change at least a crack: “After the World Cup we will see what happens next.”
According to media reports, FC Bayern would probably have to pay at least 70 million euros to buy the Croatian out of his contract, which is valid until 2028.
Meanwhile, the English are planning to persuade Gvardiol to stay with a new working paper.
