The International Ice Hockey Federation IIHF published a video from the Finnish bench on its Instagram account, when Konsta Helenius kicked off the golden celebration with his overtime goal.
In the video, the attention is drawn to one of the background characters of the Lions. While the others explode with joy and start celebrating wildly, the guardian Riku Koivunen heads away from the bench with his face in the basic readings and his gloves under his arm.
The reaction may be explained by the fact that Koivunen has been taking care of his laundry for 16 years. So he will experience the World Cup celebrations for the fourth time.
IL conducted an interview with Koivuse in connection with the 2023 World Cup competitions.
– It’s always harder when the games go well. But if we talk about everyday maintenance, then the same things have to be done regardless of whether we win or lose, the man said at the time.
