The new sludge dryer no longer runs on natural gas, but uses residual heat from an incineration plant. As a result, the installation should deliver significant CO2 savings.

“The advantage of this brand new installation, and we also have one in Beringen, is that the drying process is based on residual heat from an incineration installation,” says Jan Goossens, general manager of Aquafin. “In the past, this was done on the basis of natural gas.”
