Esa Pulliainen has died. MIKKO RÄSÄNEN

Esa Pulliainen has died at the age of 69. The band Agents tells about it in a Facebook update.

Pulliainen died in Vantaa on Saturday, May 30, exhausted by a long illness, the publication says.

Pulliainen joined Tuomari Nurmio’s Friends of the Poor band in the late 1970s. After the band broke up, he and the other band members, except for Tuomari Nurmio, founded the band Agents. The group has been operating for almost 50 years.

Agents has highlighted names like Topi Sorsakoski and Jorma Kääriäinen, and over the years accompanied, for example, Rauli Badding Somerjoki, Ville Valo and Maustettyttö.

Agents’ publication highlights Pulliainen’s influence on Finnish rock and light music.

– He visually combined iron wire, rock and percussion, the background of which was on the one hand his love for traditional 1950s and 60s rock’n’roll and rockabilly, on the other hand his affection for both domestic and foreign entertainment music classics, the publication writes.

Pulliainen was awarded the State Music Award in 2003, the Vantaa Culture Award in 2015 and the Special Emma in 2023.

Pulliainen’s last publication was the one published in March Agents The ring bends Vol.1 -ep.
