The German World Cup group opponents Ecuador celebrated a friendly win around two weeks before the start of the World Cup.
The South Americans won 2-1 (1-0) against Saudi Arabia. The team’s top stars were not there: defenders Willian Pacho and Piero Hincapié were both active in the Champions League final, and Moises Caicedo from Chelsea FC was also not there.
The goals in Harrison/New Jersey were scored by Jackson Porozo (35th) and Anthony Valencia (51st), with Hamburg-born John Yeboah, who once played for VfL Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga, providing the preparatory work for both goals. Sultan Mandash (87th) scored for Saudi Arabia. Next Sunday (June 7th) Ecuador will play its World Cup dress rehearsal against Guatemala.
