A person jumped from a hot air balloon in Zundert on Saturday evening and was killed. Fire brigade, police and ambulances came to Zundert and started a major search operation because it was unclear where the victim had ended up.
The balloonist immediately called the emergency services. An air ambulance also arrived on the scene. The fire brigade responded with an aerial platform.
Emergency services searched for the victim for a long time, including in the vicinity of the ‘Onder de Mast’ sports hall. The person was eventually found in a garden on Elzenstraat in Zundert.
The accident attracted a lot of attention, with local residents taking to the streets en masse. Victim assistance has been provided for people in the area who saw the accident.
A police spokesperson strongly suspects that this is a case of suicide and is therefore not providing any more information.
