Four victories out of five Grands Prix contested in Formula 1 at the start of this season with his Mercedes and the conquest of the top of the top series rankings, which sees him in the role of the youngest ever leader of a Formula 1 World Championship. Emotions that the Italian driver tries to control, aware that he still has seventeen GPs ahead of him to compete in 2026, while the enthusiasm of an entire country ignites around him. An Italy that today celebrates him in its land, Emilia-Romagna, with the awarding of the historic Bandini Trophy to Brisighella, an award reserved for Formula 1 champions and dedicated to the memory of the driver Lorenzo Bandini.

Kimi’s journey towards Brisighella will begin today from Imola: the driver will set off around 2.30 pm driving a Mercedes AMG GT3 set up for the occasion with a special livery that will combine the blue, symbol of Bologna, with the colors of the Italian tricolour. The arrival in Faenza is expected at 3pm, where the institutional meeting with the local authorities and the greeting to the citizens will be held in Piazza del Popolo. Antonelli will immediately set off again towards Brisighella, where at 3.30 pm he will enter the town under the escort of the Traffic Police. After a brief institutional greeting and a press conference reserved for professionals, the awards ceremony will begin at 6 pm on the stage in Piazza Marconi, complete with a giant screen to allow everyone present to follow the event.

Established in 1992 in memory of the driver Lorenzo Bandini, the trophy is awarded every year in the municipality of Brisighella, a city linked to the youthful years of the Emilian driver, who tragically passed away in Monte Carlo in May 1967, to a prominent figure in the world of Formula 1. Over the seasons, some of the most important representatives of the top series have been awarded this honour: Michael Schumacher received the award in 2003, Kimi Raikkonen in 2004, Fernando Alonso in 2005, Sebastian Vettel in 2009, Lewis Hamilton in 2010, but also Max Verstappen in 2016 and Charles Leclerc in 2020.

During the day dedicated to the young Italian talent, it will not only be Andrea Kimi Antonelli who will receive a prestigious award. During the event, in fact, other excellent names from the international motoring scene will also be awarded, and not only: Andrea Dolfi, Head of R&D Fluid Technology Solutions engineer at Petronas; Adolfo De Stefani Cosentino, CEO of the historic De Stefani dealership; Marc Langenbrinck, president of Mercedes-Benz Italia; Simone Resta, engineer from Faenza from the Brackley team; Alberto Naska, content creator and pilot; Giuseppe Silvestrini, president of Forlì Airport, and Simonetta Lo Brutto, manager of the Emilia-Romagna Traffic Police Department. Together with them, 24 professionals from Dz Engineering will also be awarded, an engineering company that designs the complex lighting systems of circuits with night races, such as the Singapore GP.
