The fire was in the thatched roof of the house and was therefore difficult to fight, a spokesperson said. The thatched roofs are built to repel water. Firefighters tried to extinguish the fire from above using aerial platforms.
To gain even better access to the fire, a crane was used to remove part of the roof from the building.
Around 9 p.m., the security region announced that the house could be considered lost.
Resident received and checked
The resident who was present when the fire started was collected further away and checked by the ambulance. She was not injured.
According to the spokesperson, the house is a former farm dating from the 19th century.
