Co-suspect Marylio V. (34) also received 6 years in prison for importing drugs. That case is still ongoing, because the suspects have appealed.
In a hearing today it was announced that the Public Prosecution Service wants to recover 8 million euros from Promes and 62,000 euros from Marylio V. According to the Public Prosecution Service, they earned that amount from the import of cocaine.
According to the Public Prosecution Service, the amount is based on information from cracked chats. This would show that Promes directed extractors to bring in consignments of cocaine weighing 650 and 712 kilos via the port of Antwerp. The first batch, hidden in a container with bags of salt, was never found. A second batch was intercepted.
The two cousins are said to have earned 9 million euros from this. Minus all costs incurred by the suspects, such as purchasing costs, this amounts to 8.1 million euros.
Not present
Promes was not present at the hearing today. His lawyers have asked for more time to submit their investigation requests. The appeal case will start in November.
In another case, Promes was also convicted of stabbing a family member in the knee during a party. Promes has also appealed in that case.
Promes spent a long time in Russia, where he played for Spartak Moscow. In March 2024, he was arrested in Dubai while staying there with his football club. He was extradited to the Netherlands in June last year.
