DOSKO’32 has instantly become a well-known amateur club in the Netherlands. The first team of the football club from Duizel won a match on television channel ESPN and was allowed to play live on TV against FC de Rebelles on Friday evening. The banner team lost the ‘Match of jet Leven’ 1-2, but for DOSKO’32 it is an evening to remember. “Financially it is good, but the fun is the most important,” says treasurer Jan Maas.

Television channel ESPN This time it was not at PSV or Willem II, but with the entire crew at DOSKO’32, the champion in the fourth division E. With Hans Kraay Jr. as interviewer, with analyst Marciano Vink at the table and a camera on all sides of the field.

They were not the only celebrities in Duizel, because FC de Rebelles included former professionals Tom Beugelsdijk, Ruben Schaken and Dennis Gentenaar. In the second half, former international Glenn Helder was given playing minutes by coach Robert Maaskant.

The opponent and ESPN a lot was done to make it an evening full of humor. Such as the moment when referee Roelof Luinge was called to the screen by his VAR Danny Koevermans during a penalty moment. It took a while before the 70-year-old Luinge reached his colleague, because he first had to climb a flight of stairs from the television tower.

And what about the sports meal during half time? No shakesbut hamburger sandwiches with lots of bacon and sauce entered the field. Despite the funny moments, DOSKO’32 took the match very seriously. After a 1-0 lead, the halftime score was 1-1, after which Helder determined the final score at 1-2 from the penalty spot in the final phase.

“It was a tough game, but we trained well,” says player Stan Jacobs. “As a village club with almost all boys from Duizel, we have never experienced anything like this, great for the club.”

On the sidelines, club icon Harrie van Kessel (72) enjoyed the atmosphere. He sat in the stands together with former teammates with whom he became champion three times in the past. “I had not seen some of the men for twenty years. It is so special that we have been invited to this special competition. We are all enjoying it.”

The club will continue to benefit from the Match of your Lifebecause treasurer Jan Maas will be working overtime. “We once played against PSV in the past, and it was also very busy. With 2,500 people on the sidelines, it is financially attractive. For us, it is especially important that it is a lot of fun. With supporters, with sponsors, everyone wanted to be there. And later in the evening in the party tent, I expect even more crowds.”
