The radio channel Bassoradio ended its broadcast programs in August 2025. At the same time it ended Tuomas “Tuke” Tuomi-Nikulan and Jussi “Jusa” Urpalainen a traditionalist who has been running for more than 20 years A sweaty afternoon – radio program.
Now Tuomi-Nikula and Urpalainen tell the news. The sweaty afternoon is making a comeback, this time in podcast form. The first episode of the podcast will be released today, Friday, on the most common podcast platforms. The podcast is produced by Podme.
According to the release, in the new podcast, the current issues and phenomena of the week will be bundled on Fridays. In the podcast, Tuomi-Nikula and Urpalainen discuss topics ranging from youth fashion to recipes trending on social media.
Tuomi-Nikula and Urpalainen also talk about it in their Instagram post, where they reminisce about the program’s journey. Bassoradio started out as an internet radio until it switched to FM radio.
– We got to join the creators of this new and exciting channel. Support directly from the bench of Laajasalo radio school, and Jusa a year later, the two remember in the publication.
– We were able to do everything possible with the channel that you can imagine in radio. We went through many different phases, the company’s operating models, company structures, ownership bases, focuses here, emphasis here. Damn it, we ourselves got to grow up with the channel from teenagers to adults, the two write.
If the publication is not visible, you can view it from this link.
In the publication, Tuomi-Nikula and Urpalainen write that they did not believe that the program would continue in the 2020s. The program ended last fall and the duo describes the last broadcast as memorable. The two of them felt great.
So now Hikinen iltäpäivä is making a comeback in podcast form. The news has sparked excitement in the comments section of the Instagram post.
– Hard, good luck and more success! one glows.
– Well, this is very pleasant news! the other is eager.
– Yes, you have been needed! the third one writes with wings of flames.
– Yes, it’s good when the bosses put it in, the radio host enthuses Aleksi Korpijaakko.
– Well now. You have to listen to it, even radio host Anssi Honkanen is glowing with flame emojis.
Tuomi-Nikula has continued on the radio even after Bassoradio’s programs ended. He has hosted Radio Rock Night shift– program, which has been heard on the channel between 4 and 6 o’clock.
In the fall, Tuomi-Nikula told Iltalehti about his feelings about the new territorial occupation. The host said that he was really excited.
– I am very interested in making night and night radio. The night somehow has a certain magic and I believe that those who heard in a different way then are perhaps connected and in a voice, Tuomi-Nikula reflected.
Tuomi-Nikula already hinted at the end of October that a continuation with Urpalainen could be in the offing.
– It could be that sometimes we will do something with Jusa here together. There have been some inquiries, but we’ll see. Maybe time will tell about them later, Tuomi-Nikula explained in October.
