THEthe Roman singer-songwriter Niccolò Fabiguest of the journalist Giorgia Cardinaletti in in-depth program Tg1 Talkshas returned to open-heartedly recount the drama of death of daughter Olivia, passed away sixteen years ago at just 2 years old for fulminant meningitis. During the interview, given in view of his eagerly awaited summer concert at the Vittoriale Amphitheater in Gardone Riviera, the artist explained how he managed to transform devastating and incalculable pain into a flow of peace and solidarity. He did it thanks to music and social commitment, also retracing the historic and exciting personal reunion with friends and historical colleagues Max Gazzè and Daniele Silvestri.

Niccolò Fabi, the death of his daughter Olivia: «Incomprehensible pain»

In 2010, immediately after the loss of her daughter Olivia, Fabi took to social media to make a heartbreaking outburst in which she admitted that the stage would be “the last place” she wanted to be. Years later, the perspective has changed. Not without difficulty, of course. But everything happened thanks to a profound interior journey: «Pain is one of the strongest emotions, so incomprehensible that in the Italian language there is no word to describe a parent who loses a child”, he confessed to Tg1.

The turning point came thanks tomeeting with Doctors with Africa CUAMM. The NGO helped him channel that suffering «in a flowing riverwithout hindering it, towards a place of peace and not anger.” Since that moment, Niccolò Fabi has accomplished as many as ten humanitarian missions.

The trip to South Sudan with Gazzè and Silvestri

The solidarity commitment was the perfect hook for join the paths of Fabi, Max Gazzè and Daniele Silvestri again. The three, who grew up together in small Roman clubs at the start of their careers, were looking for a moment to be alone in 2013 after their lives had been turned upside down by new births and, in Niccolò’s case, painful losses. «We were looking for a moment to isolate ourselves, we were thinking of a weekend», revealed the singer-songwriter. However, the only free week in everyone’s diaries coincided with Fabi’s trip to South Sudan to deliver a fundraiser: “It was a unanimous yes.” A very strong experience that strengthened a fraternal bond that goes far beyond music.

During the interview, the topic shifted to a broader reflection. Cardinaletti asked him, if he could change his life for one day, who would he choose to be. The singer’s response was «a doctor or a teacher, are figures that I hold dear: health and education are the cornerstones of society, two areas that should be guaranteed and safeguarded because they deal with physical, biological and mental health through knowledge.”
