Few ships have been passing through the Strait of Hormuz for almost three months, leaving the world, but especially Asia, without significant amounts of oil and gas from the Middle East. As a result, the oil price has risen from about $65 per barrel to about $100 and the gas price has also risen, albeit less. The response from many Dutch politicians is that we must accelerate the energy transition. That may sound logical to many, but it is a meaningless call.
