The father of singer Mart Hoogkamer (28) was arrested on Whit Monday after a search in which a police helicopter was deployed. That reports The Telegraph. It would involve an argument in which a threat with a firearm may have been made.
According to various reports, a search was underway in Leiden on Monday for two people believed to be involved in an incident. During an argument, a firearm may have been threatened. The police then searched for the duo for quite some time and even used a helicopter. It circled above the area at a low altitude for more than half an hour.
The Hague police unit confirms the arrest of a man and a woman, but cannot release names for privacy reasons. The ages do match those of Mart Hoogkamer’s father (52) and his partner (52).
What exactly happened is still under investigation. The two have been in custody since Monday and will appear before the examining magistrate on Friday, who will determine whether they will remain in pre-trial detention longer.

The news hits the singer hard, who has little to no contact with his father, who has been struggling with alcohol abuse for years. “I think it’s terrible. It’s also my name, but I can’t do anything about it,” Hoogkamer responds briefly to the arrest. Private. His management was not yet available.
