Defense will remain involved for longer in the security of the logistics hub for military support to Ukraine. Dutch air defense of the Poland-based center was due to end in early June, but the Patriot deployment will be extended by up to 6 months. Minister Dilan Yeşilgöz-Zegerius reported this in a letter to the House of Representatives.
The logistics center in Poland is part of NATO Security Assistance and Training for Ukraine (NSATU). Military equipment from NATO countries goes to Ukraine from this place. The Dutch Patriot deployment enables NSATU to carry out logistics activities safely. This makes it a crucial link in supporting Ukraine.
Yeşilgöz: “The Patriot is an important but also scarce anti-aircraft system, especially given the current international security situation with multiple conflicts. By extending our Patriot deployment, the Netherlands is responding to a request from NATO and Poland. This decision underlines our support for Ukraine and indicates that the Netherlands is ready when NATO and allies call on us.”
The Netherlands has been supplying air defense systems for the protection of the logistics center in Poland since December 2025. In addition to the Patriot deployment, this involves NASAMS (air missile defense system) and anti-drone systems. The Patriot anti-aircraft defense and approximately 150 soldiers will remain in Poland until early December at the latest. The other systems will return to the Netherlands in June.
