The victim was on his bike when he was hit by a Citroën C1, driven by a 56-year-old woman. Other deaths have already occurred on that road in the recent past
A tragic accident has taken the life of one very young cyclist in Aprilia, along the Via del Genio Civile. The victim is a little girl who was pedaling her bicycle and was hit by a car driven by a woman, in a fatal collision which also rendered the rapid intervention of 118 and the air ambulance completely useless.
UNCERTAIN DYNAMICS
—
The police are still ascertaining the dynamics of the crash, but the data established at the moment outline the contours of the story. The accident occurred in Aprilia, in the province of Latina, at the intersection where Via Tesino enters the central Via del Genio Civile, on May 27th around 3.30 pm. The vehicles involved are the bicycle in which the victim was traveling and one Citroën C1. The car was driven by a 56-year-old woman, while the very young victim was 14 years old. The car was traveling in the direction of the SS148 and the bike was coming from the right, as evidenced by the damage suffered by both vehicles.
A DANGEROUS ROAD
—
Via del Genio Civile is sadly known for its danger and it is an artery with a high intensity of vehicles, as it directly connects two extremely busy roads such as the Pontine and the Neptunense. The area is densely populated, so there are also several side entrances which multiply the chances of an accident. This artery is often the scene of very serious accidents: only in 2024 did a 32-year-old woman and a 40-year-old motorcyclist lose their lives on the same road, while in 2021 a 19-year-old girl died after losing control of her vehicle. To these deadly episodes are added many others, which did not cause victims but only injuries.
