Large exhibition highlights how Amsterdam has always been gay capital: ‘The first gay marriage took place in 1632’

It is no secret that Amsterdam and the queer community are closely connected. Yet history appears to go back longer than most people know. With the exhibition Queer Amsterdam, the pink city, the Nieuwe Kerk and heritage center IHLIA want to paint a picture of the versatile LGBTI+ community in the city over the centuries.
