As of: May 27, 2026 • 5:42 p.m

Danish professional cyclist Michael Valgren has won the 17th stage of the Giro d’Italia. Jonas Vingegaard remains clearly ahead in the overall standings.

Valgren, who drives for the EF Education EasyPost team, broke away decisively about one kilometer from the finish on Wednesday (May 27th, 2026). The slightly hilly stage ran over 202 kilometers from Cassano d’Adda to Andalo.

Andreas Leknessund (Norway/Uno-X Mobility) took second place, followed at some distance by Damiano Caruso (Italy/Bahrain Victorious), who left behind Alexander Vlasov (Russia/Red Bull-Bora-hansgrohe) and Eine Rubio (Colombia/Movistar) in the sprint.

The Danish overall leader Jonas Vingegaard from the Visma-Lease a Bike team held back the day after his fourth stage win and crossed the finish line with the peloton around five minutes later.
