Tod’s: CEO John Galantic resigns

CEO John Galantic has left the Italian fashion group Tod’s SpA, according to a report by the business medium Bloomberg. He had been in the position for less than two years.

Galantic took over the position in September 2024. At the end of April, he left the luxury company known for its signature loafers. A spokesman for Tod’s said the American manager resigned for personal reasons and returned to the United States. The company has not yet named a successor for the vacant management position.

Prior to joining Tod’s, Galantic worked at French luxury fashion house Chanel for approximately 16 years. There he was responsible, among other things, for operational business in the USA as well as other international tasks.

Galantic took over the management of Tod’s following the company’s withdrawal from the Italian stock exchange. The group remains controlled by the Della Valle family and supported by private equity firm L Catterton. The investment firm specializing in consumer goods brands, which includes the French luxury goods group LVMH and Bernard Arnault’s family office, helped take the group off the stock exchange in 2024.

Last year, Tod’s was included in an industry-wide investigation. Italian prosecutors have been investigating the supply chain practices of several luxury brands that operate under the “Made in Italy” label. The investigation was met with criticism from Tod’s Chairman Diego Della Valle. He warned that the legal scrutiny threatened the stability of the luxury sector. In addition to its main brand, Tod’s also owns the premium shoe label Roger Vivier.
