Former hurdler Annimari Korte was badly injured in a team sport competition in Estonia a month ago.

On his Instagram account, he shared a video of the accident in which he sustained multiple injuries.

– Torn anterior cruciate ligament, torn lateral cruciate ligament, torn articular cartilage, fractured tibia, dislocated femur and all kinds of bone injuries and contusions, Korte lists in his publication.

Korte warns that the sounds in the video are not suitable for sensitive people. In the video, Korte screams loudly in pain and it is clear that the pain is extreme.

The accident started when the traction adapter connected to Kortte’s kickboard and the dogs’ harness got stuck. As a result, the front tire of the kickboard, the bar and Kortte’s leg on the ground were twisted transversely.

– First I hear a tear, then a bang and shocking pain. When I try to stand, I hear another bang and the knee bends completely loose. And again, Korte describes the situation.

– I’ve torn ligaments, torn tendons, broken bones and dislocated bones… but never all at once.

Korte says that two weeks ago he received a new anterior cruciate ligament from the patellar tendon. He hopes the other injuries will heal with time.

According to Kortte, full rehabilitation takes a year. Despite that, he says that he will compete in the European and World Championships in team sports already in the fall, i.e. in just a few months.

– By bike, if nothing else, he adds.

Korte ended his athletics career in 2024. Since then, he has focused on team sports with his huskies.
