“We have heard that a large shipment of small boats was intercepted on the German side,” Decaluwé said during a hearing in Parliament. Those boats would have been intended for crossings to the United Kingdom. According to him, the situation shows how important it is to disrupt the logistics chain of human smugglers.
“French experience has made it clear that sailings are impossible when no boats are available,” says Governor Carl Decaluwé. “One basically has to break the supply chain.”
