The highest risk level for wildfires has been in effect in all safety regions in North Brabant since Wednesday afternoon. The fire brigade is therefore asking nature managers, site owners and emergency services to be alert. Defense has also announced that it will adjust its exercises due to the drought.
At the end of the afternoon, phase 2 entered into all three safety regions in the province. That is the highest risk level for forest fires. Phase 2 is announced by the fire brigade when it is dry in nature for a longer period of time.
Because the risk of a wildfire is greater, the fire brigade asks site owners, nature managers and emergency services to remain extra alert. They also ask for cooperation in preventing or limiting wildfires.
Exercises adjusted
State Secretary of Defense Derk Boswijk announced on Tuesday that he would stop exercises with open fire, pyrotechnics and explosives in nature reserves. At the end of April, these exercises caused wildfires to break out on military sites on the Oirschotse Heide and near Kempen Airport in Budel. After these fires, the province already demanded that Defense revise the drought protocols.
