The Netherlands wants to test drones at the Latvian training ground Selonia. An agreement will make this possible in the future. Minister Dilan Yeşilgöz-Zegerius and Latvian Prime Minister Evika Siliņa signed the document today in the Latvian capital Riga. This further strengthens the already close cooperation with the Baltic State in the field of drones.

“Latvia and the Netherlands have a leading role in Europe in the field of drones and their development,” says Yeşilgöz. However, she believes that Latvia offers more options for testing the systems because there is more space there. “We can then share data with our Latvian allies. This way we both benefit from the cooperation.”

More than 40 Dutch companies at Drone summit

The drone collaboration was concluded during the second international Drone Summit in Riga. More than 40 companies from the Netherlands also participated in this edition, making it one of the largest trade delegations.

According to Yeşilgöz, this shows how flourishing and innovative the drone industry is in the Netherlands. “We can be proud of this. It is therefore not without reason that Dutch drones are used by Ukraine. They have the most experience on the modern battlefield and know immediately whether something works or not.”
