After missing out on the Champions League, there is a change in Milan. A name comes up that brings back memories for Milan fans.
The “Gazzetta dello Sport” reports that AC Milan club owner Gerry Cardinale and club advisor Zlatan Ibrahimović met with Ralf Rangnick in Vienna. The Austrian national football coach is once again being discussed as a possible sports director at Milan.
On Monday, Milan parted ways with head coach Massimiliano Allegri and sporting director Igli Tare. Managing director Giorgio Furlani and technical director Geoffrey Moncada also had to leave the club. According to the newspaper, Cardinale and Ibrahimović want to examine all options – hence the meeting in Vienna.
It wouldn’t be Rangnick’s first attempt at Milan. As early as 2020, the former Bundesliga coach was about to take on a role as coach and sports director in a dual role. At that time, Stefano Pioli stayed in office – and won the championship with Milan.
The search for a trainer is ongoing at the same time. According to the report, the Spaniard Andoni Iraola is high on the list as a candidate for the head coach position. He has been coaching English Premier League club AFC Bournemouth since 2023.
