Catherine Keyl is disappointed in Valentijn Driessen, her direct colleague at De Telegraaf. She thinks it’s a shame that he dismisses her periodic get-together with Harry Mens as TV for the elderly. ‘Look at yourself!’
There has been a lot of fuss in recent days about the Business Class meeting between Catherine Keyl and Harry Mens, because the host was quite petty during that conversation. It turns out that he still has very old-fashioned ideas about women, and Catherine was quite surprised about that. What does she think of all the criticism that has erupted?
Big storm
Catherine is surprised by the fuss. “I honestly don’t understand why it is such a terrible storm, but yes, that is probably because there was no news,” says the senior TV diva in RTL Boulevard.
She herself is more than happy to contribute to that storm, because she appears in front of every camera that comes to her. Does she have doubts about her future in Business Class? “I really don’t know. That’s very strange, but I just have to think about it.”
Stature
It is important to Catherine what the outside world thinks about it. “One says: ‘Man, you have too good a stature’, and another group says: ‘I have rarely laughed so much’, so I want to think about whether this is wise or not.”
However, she is disappointed in how this topic was discussed at VI. “My colleague from De Telegraaf Valentijn Driessen called it TV for the elderly. Well, Valentijn is 63, René is 67, Johan is 78. What do you mean TV for the elderly?”
Senior TV
Valentine has indeed called it TV for the elderly. He said: “You know what you get, right? It’s actually a bit of TV for the elderly. I think it’s the same in a retirement home, when you put two people next to each other. A man and a woman.”
So lame, Catherine thinks. But will she remain faithful to Harry or not? She hasn’t decided on that yet. “I know he has a small heart and I am sure that if I don’t come anymore, he will be completely sick of it.”
