British police are reportedly investigating Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor for sexual offenses – following the former royal’s arrest in February.
Mountbatten-Windsor, former Prince Andrew and brother of King Charles, was arrested on suspicion of abuse of office after the recently published Epstein files revealed new revelations.
The exact nature of the allegation has not been disclosed, but it is reported to be related to trade reports that Mountbatten-Windsor allegedly provided to Jeffrey Epstein in 2010 in his role as UK trade envoy.
Investigations now also into sexual offenses
The BBC now reports that the investigation has expanded to include allegations of sexual misconduct. This includes a report that Epstein sent a non-British woman to the former prince’s residence, Royal Lodge, in 2010. The police have already contacted the woman and her lawyers.
“We encourage anyone with information to contact us,” said Oliver Wright, assistant chief constable of Thames Valley Police. “Abuse of office is a crime that can take many forms – which makes this investigation complex. There are a number of aspects of the alleged misconduct that are currently being investigated.”
Police have not officially named Mountbatten-Windsor as a suspect, describing him only as “a man in his 60s” at the time of his arrest in February. The former prince, who was stripped of all royal titles by King Charles, denies all allegations.
