After almost two hours, Jannik Sinner had completed his first shift: The dominator from South Tyrol celebrated an unchallenged opening victory at the French Open. The world number one defeated the clear outsider Clément Tabur from France 6:1, 6:3, 6:4 on Tuesday evening.
Sinner has recently gone from success to success and traveled to Paris as the absolute top favorite for the title. In 2025, Carlos Alcaraz slowed him down in an epic finale – the Spaniard is missing this year due to injury, which increases Sinner’s chances even further.
“It’s a very special tournament for me, and it gets better every year. Last year we were very close,” the 24-year-old said before his first appearance. Close is no longer enough for him. Sinner wants to complete his career Grand Slam – winning all four major tournaments.
He comes with maximum confidence. In Rome, the Italian won his sixth Masters in a row after triumphs in Paris (2025) as well as Indian Wells, Miami, Monte Carlo and Madrid this year.
According to the seeding list, his first challenger at the French Open is the top German player Alexander Zverev, whom Sinner has recently defeated several times.
