Robin Gosens is strengthening the ARD World Cup team, which will host the cross-media ARD broadcasts of the 2026 FIFA World Cup for five weeks from June 12th. As an expert, the 31-year-old will present the broadcasts from the World Cup studio in Cologne together with Lea Wagner and Malte Völz and analyze the games.
Gosens, currently under contract with AC Fiorentina, has played 24 times for the German national soccer team and also knows the circumstances and conditions at a major tournament from UEFA EURO 2021. He is a professional who thinks outside the box and has strong opinions.
New ARD expert Gosens: “I’m really looking forward to the games and the broadcasts”
“Of course it was my big dream to be on the pitch for Germany at the World Cup in the USA. Now being able to be there as an expert for ARD is the best way for me to still be able to follow the tournament.”said Gosens about his new task. “I’m really looking forward to the games and the broadcasts with Lea Wagner and Malte Völz from the studio in Cologne. I believe Germany can do anything. I’m a huge fan of this team and I don’t just believe out of optimism that the boys can get it.”
Robin Gosens’ premiere in the live broadcasts of the FIFA World Cup on Erste and in the ARD media library is planned for the night of Sunday, June 14th to June 15th at the game between Ivory Coast and Ecuador (kick-off: 1:00 a.m.). In total, he will be used seven times in the preliminary round alone.
“With Robin we have gained an intelligent, experienced and active player who will greatly enrich our broadcasts from the World Cup. We are already looking forward to his debut as an ARD expert.”said ARD sports coordinator Axel Balkausky.
Gosens has a podcast about mental health
Since May 11th, Robin Gosens, who studied psychology alongside his sporting career, has also been running his mental health podcast “How’s it going?” active in ARD Sounds. In this weekly format, he invites prominent people from sports, society and entertainment to report openly and honestly about their mental depths and personal crises. Because even if their lives often seem perfect, they also experience dark times. “How are you?” does not rely on tabloids, but rather on concrete strategies and food for thought on how to overcome hurdles in life.
