Uli Hoeneß had recently publicly criticized the national coach several times. Apparently there was a meeting at the weekend.
Julian Nagelsmann and Uli Hoeneß have apparently spoken out. According to information from “Kicker”, the national coach and the honorary president of FC Bayern met on Saturday on the sidelines of the DFB Cup final in Berlin. Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, former CEO of FC Bayern and current member of the supervisory board, was also there.
Hoeneß had repeatedly criticized Nagelsmann in recent weeks. He particularly criticized the fact that the national team did not have a clear structure shortly before the start of the World Cup (June 11 to July 19). Further points of criticism were the decision to use Joshua Kimmich as a right-back and the handling of goalkeeper Oliver Baumann in connection with the return of Manuel Neuer.
Nagelsmann appeared calm in public. In mid-May he said in the ZDF sports studio: “I really appreciate Uli – and I know that he also has my cell phone number. And I’m always happy when he has a compelling topic, sees room for improvement in our team and tells me about it.” He added: “Uli is always allowed to say something to me.”
