Can “play at a high level”

Second division promoted Energie Cottbus has presented its first new signing for next season. Christian Kinsombi is moving from Hansa Rostock to Lower Lusatia. Since the attacking midfielder’s contract is expiring, he is joining coach Claus-Dieter Wollitz’s team on a free transfer. The 26-year-old has already played 68 times in the 2nd Bundesliga.

“Christian is a player who, in our opinion, fits very well with the type of football we want to continue to play here. He can be used quickly and flexibly, can be used in the center or on the flanks, but also right up front in the attack. He also has experience from the 2nd Bundesliga. He has already proven that he can play at a high level. That’s exactly what we want from him in our team in the new season,” emphasized Wollitz.

With a market value of 300,000 euros, Kinsombi is currently one of the most valuable players in next season’s FCE squad. For the Wiesbaden native, Cottbus is his fifth club. He started out in the youth ranks at Mainz 05 before moving on to KFC Uerdingen, SV Sandhausen, where he played with his brother David, and Rostock.
