HNGO Kong, 25 May. (askanews) – In Hong Kong, a curious climbing challenge: 12 remained to compete for the final in a competition that is held every year on the island of Cheung Chau and consists of getting on and off as quickly as possible on one 14 meter high tower covered with 9,000 steamed buns (known as buns).
There Bun Scrambling Competition is held inside the famous Cheung Chau Bun Festival which is celebrated in May from the fifth to the ninth day of the fourth lunar month and includes various activities ranging from lion dancers to tales of ancient evil spirits to lantern illuminations; It’s one of the quirkiest local festivalsincluded in the national list of intangible cultural heritage and attracts both residents and tourists every year.
