Some now choose to walk through the park to avoid a fine. A fat bike owner says: “Too bad, I have to walk or risk a fine.” Over the past two weeks there was still a transition period in which offenders were only warned. This period would be intended to inform visitors about the new situation. That transition period is now over.
Regular visitors to the park have noticed a clear difference since the introduction of the fat bike ban. “I find it quite relaxing. You are less likely to be knocked over,” says a walker. Another visitor says he hardly sees any fat bikes in the park anymore: “The Vondelpark is now actually quiet again.”
