May 25 – 11.13pm – MILAN

Confirmation of tomorrow’s time at Roland Garros has arrived, and the official status of the most awaited match. Jannik Sinner will make his debut in the second Slam of the year in the evening session, not before 8.15 pm, against the home wild card Clement Tabur. Given the extreme heat these days in Paris, the choice to have the world no.1 play in the evening is not a huge surprise. Even more so against a Frenchman. It will be the fourth match of the day on Philippe Chatrier, the main court of the facility. The only one, however, by an Italian, remembering that there are no precedents between Sinner and Tabur, on the main fields. In fact, there will still be three other Italians involved, but all on the secondary courts of Roland Garros. And starting as early as 11am.

The first to take to the field tomorrow will be Matteo Arnaldi, the only opponent against a seed. The Ligurian will play the first match on Court 7, from 11am. Against him will be Tallon Griekspoor, n.29 on the scoreboard. It will be the first meeting between the two players, with the Dutchman having won only one match on clay this year, while the Italian is coming off an excellent few weeks on the tour. Like his compatriot Luciano Darderi, who will play on the same pitch, but as the fourth match. After Arnaldi and two women’s matches, it will be his and Sebastian Ofner’s turn. The match will probably start around 5pm. By around 4pm it should instead be the turn of Elisabetta Cocciaretto, who will challenge the qualified Alina Korneeva, a very young Russian, in her third match on Court 13. They will take the field after Popyrin-Svajda and Norrie-Vallejo.

The first rounds for both men and women will be completed tomorrow. And Sinner won’t be the only No.1 to take the field. Opening the day on Chatrier, at 12pm, will be WTA leader Aryna Sabalenka, who will face Jessica Bouzas Maneiro. Followed by former finalist Stefanos Tsitsipas against Alexandre Muller. With Coco Gauff, reigning champion, closing the daytime session, around 5pm, against Taylor Townsend. Daniil Medvedev will open on Suzanne Lenglen, at 11am, against Adam Walton. One of the most anticipated big names of the tournament. Followed by Kopriva-Moutet (the Frenchman, n.30, should be Sinner’s opponent in a possible third round, according to the scoreboard) and two Americans in succession, Keys and Pegula. Finally, the last match on Court 8 between Jacob Fearnley and Juan Manuel Cerundolo should be monitored: Jannik’s possible opponent in the second round will emerge from there.
