Ismael Saibari was crowned the best player of the past season during the Eredivisie Awards in Utrecht. The 25-year-old PSV midfielder received the most votes of all eighteen captains. Saibari became champion with PSV for the third time in a row.
Saibari was nominated with Tjaronn Chery (NEC), Mika Godts (Ajax), teammate Joey Veerman (PSV) and Jacob Trenskow (sc Heerenveen). Saibari scored fifteen goals for PSV in the Eredivisie.
PSV coach Peter Bosz already spoke highly of the footballer in April. “He has something that others don’t have. That incredibly powerful combination with the technical.”
He even put a price tag on Saibari: 75 million. “I have heard discussions of players in the Eredivisie who have to leave for 60 million. Ismael will then leave for even more, so you are not gone for a while,” Bosz laughed at Saibari.
Saibari missed the final phase of the football season due to an injury. Now he’s back, just before the World Cup. There he plays for Morocco. “I’m definitely ready, physically and mentally. I can’t wait,” he said.
