Around 7 p.m., four inspectors boarded the tram for a ticket check. When a group of young people from Brussels could not produce a valid ticket, the situation escalated and an aggressive brawl broke out.
The police arrived on the scene to get the situation under control. Ultimately, the four inspectors and the tram driver were taken to hospital.
According to De Lijn, any form of aggression is strictly frowned upon. Despite the incident, services on the coastal tram continued to run normally. It is now up to the public prosecutor’s office to investigate the case.
