Borussia Mönchengladbach is sending Winsley Boteli to FC Sion after a loan. Through the sale, the foals receive an unexpected windfall of millions. According to consistent reports, the centre-forward’s purchase option amounts to 3.5 million euros. The sum could rise further if Boteli leaves Sion again in the summer, as Gladbach has a share in the resale. The 19-year-old signed a contract with the Swiss until 2030.
Boteli moved from Servette to the young foals in 2022. For the U19 he was involved in 39 goals in 39 games, and in the U23 he had eleven scorers in 39 appearances. The Switzerland U21 national player was never on the pitch for the professionals. At FC Sion, Boteli impressed with eleven goals in 38 games. However, he mostly acted as a joker and was only in the starting line-up four times. It is not yet certain that Boteli will also play for FC Sion next season. According to the “Rheinische Post”, the attacker has aroused the interest of other clubs, including Genoa CFC. According to the report, the Italians are said to have submitted an offer of 7 million euros, but Sion is demanding up to 10 million euros. A resale of Boteli would bring more money into Gladbach’s coffers, who have secured a ten percent stake in a future transfer.
“We are happy for Winsley and for FC Sion that the loan went so well for him,” said Gladbach’s sports director Rouven Schröder. “And this transfer gives us further sporting planning security at an early stage and the opportunity to invest in the squad.” In addition to the income for Boteli, the 20 million euros for Rocco Reitz, which RB Leipzig is transferring for his services, have already been determined. To date, 5.5 million euros have been spent on new additions or permanent commitments.

The player has reached a full agreement on a contract until 2029, and the clubs will now clarify the final details. The medical check is planned for this week.

Omlin has a contract with Gladbach until 2027. How high the transfer fee for the veteran is is not yet known. But it shouldn’t be too high. In 2023, the team from Lower Rhine paid 9 million euros for him and he was supposed to inherit Yann Sommer. However, he was unable to prevail permanently. He was between the posts 36 times for Gladbach, seven of which he kept without conceding a goal. Most recently he was active on loan for Bayer Leverkusen. From summer onwards he will be the successor to Marwin Hitz in Basel, who is ending his career. From 2018 to 2020, Omlin played 79 times for FCB. He has not played more games for any club so far.
