The second day of the French Open 2026 is coming up. Three German players are entering the tournament today and things could get a little louder during the night session. That and more in our daily preview.

The second day at the French Open is coming up. The first round in Paris is also scheduled for Monday. There are three German players there. But the defending champion also gets involved.

Tatjana Maria is scheduled to play on Court 14. Her game against Elise Mertens takes place immediately after the first game of the day between Alex de Minaur and Toby Samuel. At around the same time, Eva Lys also gets involved. Her game on Court 5 against Petra Marcinko is also scheduled as a second encounter.

Defending champion Swiatek enters the tournament

Ella Seidel also gets involved on court six on Monday. After two men’s matches on this court, she will face Jelena Ostapenko, who won the tournament in Paris in 2027.

Speaking of the tournament winner: Iga Swiatek will also step onto the red clay of Paris for the first time on Monday. The defending champion will be challenged right at eleven o’clock and will face wildcard holder Emerson Jones.

Last Paris performances for Wawrinka and Monfils?

But Monday could also be an emotional day. Both Gael Monfils and Stan Wawrinka, who will both end their tennis careers at the end of the year, will play their first round matches. That also means that if they lose, that’s it for the two of them with appearances in the French capital. Wawrinka will face Dutchman Jesper De Jong from around 12.30 p.m., while Monfils will play against his compatriot Hugo Gaston in the night session from 8.15 p.m.

The American Ben Shelton and the Norwegian Casper Ruud also made their first appearances in the men’s competition. Ruud will face Roman Safiullin immediately after the Wawrinka match, Shelton will face the Spaniard Daniel Merida in the last game on Court Suzanne Lenglen.
