A man found a grenade in his horse enclosure on the Vlagberg in Overloon on Sunday afternoon. He saw smoke and then he dug up the ground with a pitchfork. Then he saw the grenade and called the emergency services.
The fire brigade placed the explosive in a bucket of sand. The Defense Explosive Ordnance Disposal Service (EOD) arrives on site to collect the grenade and destroy it at a designated location. It is probably a phosphorus grenade.
The horses and residents were not injured. They stand at a safe distance until the grenade is gone.
